This collaborative project with Ashley John Pigford utilizes modern technology to create two sets of 432 point wood font of the Emigre typeface Vista Sans, designed by Xavier Dupre, and print experimental prints in an exploration of contemporary methods of typographic design + letterpress.

We are exploring the following: how contemporary typefaces can operate within historic printing processes, collaborative experimental printmaking processes, the conceptual nature of the successes and failures of computer and wood technologies. The final goal of the project is one or more exhibitions of collaborative prints and a documentary-style artist book that investigates how others approach a relationship with the physical type and experimental letterpress printing.

Custom designed and printed with Illustrator, Katie Smith, these birth announcements were created using letterpress and silkscreen methods.

This collaborative book project with illustrator, Katie Smith and writer, Sonya Terjanian, was created at the end of 2009. An edition of 200 hand-bound books were hand-colored and letterpress printed on kozo paper to be sent out by Sonya to wish holiday greetings.

Redesign and letterpress printed labels for two gander honey. The letterpress printing is subtle but makes the jars stand out on the shelf.

An edition of 25 posters were designed and printed using analog and digital methods. It will be included in an exhibition of posters at the 10th anniversary celebration at the hamilton wood type & printing museum in two rivers, wisconsion on 30 may 2009.

This poster was a donation to Kartemquin films in Chicago to help promote their movie, typeface. The poster was created using woodtype, linoleum and lead type on a hand-painted paper. Intern, Hannah Christensen assisted with this project in the summer, 2008.

A collaboration between Ashley John Pigford and Tricia Treacy using typographic compositions to create a limited-edition letterpress-printed poster for a fundraising event for the 21st anniversary of Vox Populi Gallery in Philadelphia, PA. The posters were created using hundreds of pieces of wood type from the Raven Press collection at the University of Delaware in the summer of 2008.

Collaborating with Allusiv Deisgn on this invitation for one the benjamin franklin tercentenary gala events, envelopes and the rsvp card were letterpress printed in our studio.

Collaborating with writer, Sonya Terjanian to create a three dimensional holiday greeting, this letterpress printed card, which accompanied a compact fluorescent light bulb, was designed to reflect the environmentally friendly spirit of the mailer.
