OBJECT PLAY, curated by Angela Driscoll and Yuka Petz, explores the relationships between text, image, and object. Artists Katie Murken, Christopher Michlig, and collaborators Tricia Treacy and Ashley John Pigford, manipulate objects through the process of making.
Exhibition openings were March 10th + March 16th.
Ashley Pigford and I will be doing another sound performance of our collaborative book, Lexicology at the opening of the CBAA exhibition, Biblio Tech, 6 January between 5:30-730pm at the San Francisco Public Library.

When operating between media, there is often a conflict of speed. This is especially true when moving from digital to analog—translation takes time. This collaborative project with Ashley Pigford and Troy Richards will explore the gap between the virtual image capture and its translation to physical form. This collaborative, real-time project demonstration + installation consists of:
1) Capture: There will be a “photo booth” set up to take portraits of conference participants.
2) Cut: Using a CNC Router, we will cut wood block reliefs of the vector line art portraits;
3) Print: We will then print these wood block reliefs on a printing press. This project will result in a small exhibition and edition of the prints.

Two of my books were included in Barb Tetenbaum’s, un-speak-able, a national book arts exhibition. The show was up at The Art Center in Corvallis, OR from March 3—April 2, 2011. My book, What more to say, won one of the juror’s prizes.
Lex.i.col.o.gy and Another Place will be included in the Imprint letterpress exhibition at Georgetown College. If you happen to be in Kentucky, stop by and check it out.

I performed lexicology with Ashley John Pigford at NYU’s Conflux Festival on October 9, 2010 at 11am in front of St. Marks bookstore, 31 3rd Ave, NY, NY.
We attended codex 2011 in Berkeley and participated in the book fair. Launched the new artist book, Wallpaper, which was well-received. It was a great event. Exhibitors came from all over the map : 100 U.S. exhibitors, of which 47 were from California, followed by 11 from New York, 10 from Oregon, 5 from Minnesota and 4 from Washington, 2 from Pennsylvania. Fifteen more states were also represented. Thirty-nine international exhibitors came from 12 countries (including 10 from Germany, 7 from Canada and 6 from France.)
Matt Neff, Katie Smith and I printed this poster at the Common Press at UPenn for the History of Letterpress exhibition at The Print Center on Latimer St., in Philadelphia. The exhibition is up from Sept 7-Nov 20, 2010, so check it out. My collaborative book with Katie Baldwin, Another Place is also in the show.
My artist book, what more to say, is included in the 10x10xtieton exhibition and catalogue. If you’ll be in the northwest, check out one of the three receptions from August through October, 2010. The catalogue book is due out in September.
My newest artist book, what else to say, was included in this juried book arts show at 23 Sandy Gallery in Portland, Oregon. My book received the Honorable Mention Juror’s Award.
Katie Baldwin and Tricia Treacy attended the College Book Arts Conference in Iowa City, IA during the wintery days of January in 2009. We presented our collaborative book, another place, and demonstrated reductive woodblock printing to create a one page book with text on the vandercook press. It was a lot of fun and seems like people enjoyed our presentation, the last event of the conference. The print shop was amazing with wonderful natural light.
